Perla, Resort & Entertainment

Nova Gorica, Slovenia

Local timeCentral European Time

A hotel, casino and entertainment venue in Nova Gorica, the Slovenian town that shares an open border with Gorizia in Italy.

The place

Nova Gorica and Gorizia grew up on either side of a border that today runs through a shared square by the railway station; most people cross it without noticing. In 2025 the two towns were European Capital of Culture together.

Perla is one of the town’s large entertainment venues, with a hotel, restaurants and a casino under one roof. Most visitors come for a short break: a night or two, a dinner or a show, and a day out in the wine hills and river valleys nearby.

When to go

Late spring and early autumn are the easy seasons, with mild days and, in September and October, the grape harvest in the hills around the town. Summer is warm and busy with trips to the Soča valley.

Winter is quieter. The bora, a cold north-easterly wind, can make a winter day in this corner of Slovenia feel much colder than the thermometer says.

Around it

  • Goriška Brda

Hill villages and family wineries a short drive west, best known for their white wines.

  • The Soča valley

An emerald-green river to the north, with walking trails, rafting in season and very cold swims.

  • Gorizia

Walk across into Italy for the castle and the old streets below it.

Before you book, ask

  • Is parking included, and is any of it covered?
  • Which rooms are quietest at night, away from the entertainment floors?
  • Which shows and events are on during your stay.
  • Which ID the casino accepts from visitors outside the EU.

Time a call to this hotel

The front desk usually answers around the clock, but reservations and group sales teams tend to keep office hours. Enter the hours from the hotel’s own website and see them on your clock.
